SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Junior Shelby Brauckmuller is tied for the lead and the Marshall women's golf team sits in third overall after the first round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Sunday.
 
"We had a solid day on the course even though we did make a few mistakes," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "We took some time after the round to work on certain things in our games and now we have two days to move up the leaderboard."
 
Brauckmuller scored a 1-under 70 as she stayed consistent throughout the day. She is tied with Sophie Membrino of Samford for the top spot.
 
All five of Marshall's players are in the top half of the field. Sophomore Kerri Parks is tied for sixth after a 1-over 72. Freshman Jackie Schmidt is tied for 10th, sophomore Stormy Randazzo is 27th and senior Ylva Forslund is tied for 28th. There are 72 players in the tournament.
 
As a team, the Herd is four-strokes back off the lead as Samford and Eastern Kentucky are tied at the top.
