Roeder Scores 2-Under as Men’s Golf Improves in Final Round at Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Redshirt junior Ben Roeder tied for the third-best score on Sunday as the Marshall men's golf team finished the Furman Intercollegiate. Roeder shot a 2-under 69 and moved up 30 places on the leaderboard.
"Conditions were much tougher today and I was very happy with the fight in our team," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "Ben Roeder's round of 69 was so impressive. Overall as a team we still have work to do but the guys are working really hard and it is starting to show. We're looking forward to Irish Creek in a couple of weeks."
Roeder scored five birdies on Sunday including three out of four holes on the front nine. The Midland, Mich., native began the day on the back nine. Redshirt sophomore Cameron Root improved by four strokes in the third round and moved up 15 spots on the leaderboard.
As a team, Marshall scored seven strokes better in the third round and finished in 14th against a tough field.
Coastal Carolina held on for the team championship with a 7-under team score of 845. Davidson came in second with a 3-under 849. Keller Harper of Furman moved ahead of Wes Artac of Coastal Carolina by one stroke in the third round to win the individual award.
