Softball Drops Series Finale at Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Marshall softball team struggled on Sunday in the series finale loss to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 5-0. The Herd wins the series two games to one.

The Thundering Herd falls to 23-12 and 6-3 in Conference USA. The Golden Eagles improve to 18-16 and 5-7 in conference action.

Senior Abigail Tolbert took the loss and is now 15-10 for the year. Tolbert pitched through 5.1 innings, allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out three.

On the offensive side, Marshall managed just two base runners in the contest with junior Sierra Huerta getting on board in the second with her 14th hit-by-pitch of the year, and senior Abigail Estrada with a base hit in the fifth.

Marshall returns to action on April 6-7, against the WKU Hilltoppers at Dot Hicks Field. The Saturday doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
