PINEHURST, N.C. – The Marshall men's golf team moved up two places after the second round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, Saturday afternoon.
The Herd now sits in seventh place out of 14 teams.
"Today was a really tough day," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "Weather was cold and a little breezy and the course received a lot rain over night causing the course to be extremely wet. The guys fought really hard today. We got off to a bad start but the guys battled and saved the round and actually moved up the leaderboard.
"Cole (Moore) and Cameron (Root) are playing some good golf this week. We need to play well tomorrow to move up again. Temperatures look warmer but there may be some thunderstorms in the area, so we will have to be prepared for that."
Junior Cole Moore jumped up 28 places with a 4-stroke improvement. Moore scored a 1-over 72 and is now tied for 10th. Redshirt sophomore Cameron Root moved up 17 places and is tied for 21st.
Davidson leads the team competition by 20-strokes over Radford. Clayton Tribus of Davidson sits in first on the leaderboard with a three-under 139 after two rounds.
