TEXARKANA, Texas – The Marshall men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Conference USA Championship, Monday at the Texarkana Country Club.
Marshall sits in 13th place.
"Once again we played a lot better than our score showed," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "We need to hit a few more greens and put ourselves in a better position to make some birdies. When you don't make enough birdies as a team it puts a lot of pressure on you. 36 holes was a long day today and the course was set up difficult.
"Tomorrow we need to come ready for a challenge and hopefully convert a few more birdies."
Redshirt sophomore Cameron Root is the top player for the Herd after the first two rounds. Root is tied for 36th with a 6-over 150.
UTSA holds the team lead with a 1-under 575, leading WKU by four shots. Jake Benson of Rice is the individual leader after a 6-under 138.
