Men’s Golf to Finish Regular Season at Irish Creek Intercollegiate

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The Marshall men's golf team finishes the 2018-19 regular season, Saturday and Sunday, at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate hosted at The Club at Irish Creek. The three-round, two-day event begins with a shotgun start Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
The Club at Irish Creek is a par-71, 7,099-yard course. Teams will play two rounds on Saturday and one final round on Sunday with another 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is provided through GolfStat.com.
"We are very excited to be heading down to Charlotte for the Irish Creek Intercollegiate," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "It is a great golf tournament and a great golf course. We haven't played the event in several years and none of the guys have played this event before. So we will have to get a really good practice round in and be ready to go Saturday morning."
Competing for Marshall over the weekend will be redshirt junior Ben Roeder, redshirt sophomore Cameron Root, redshirt senior Thomas Frazier, freshman Kyle Mitchell and redshirt sophomore Will Straub. Redshirt sophomore Matt Hoffman will be playing as an individual.
The Herd is one of 16 teams in the tournament. The other schools are Appalachian State, Charlotte, Dartmouth, (No. 86) Davidson, (No. 88) East Carolina, (No. 28) Florida State, High Point, (No. 31) Kansas, (No. 96) James Madison, (No. 66) Kennesaw State, (No. 49) Ohio State, Richmond, (No. 80) UNCG, VCU and (No. 42) West Virginia.
After the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, Marshall competes in the Conference USA Championships. The four-day event is April 22-25, at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark.
