Men’s Golf Set for Golfweek Conference Challenge

Three-day event to be played Sept. 15-17 at Cedar Rapids Country Club
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Marshall men's golf team is back in action, Sept. 15-17, at the Golfweek Conference Challenge played at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.
Teams will play one round of 18 holes each day. Fourteen programs are set to compete in the tournament. The course is a par-72 with 7,086 total yardage. Live scoring will be provided through GolfStat.com.
"I am really looking forward to watching the guys compete in the Golfweek Conference Challenge," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "We played some really good golf last week in the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational. Hopefully we can continue to play well and compete for a championship this week. This is one of the stronger fields we have faced so we will definitely be challenged."
The Herd finished its season-opener with a team score of 13-under at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational and came in sixth. Freshman Tyler Jones ended his first collegiate tournament with a 9-under 207 and tied for ninth. Redshirt juniors Will Straub (T15th) and Matt Hoffman (T17th) along with redshirt senior Ben Roeder (T20th) all finished in the top 20.
Competing at the Golfweek Conference Challenge for the Herd will be Roeder, Jones, Straub, Hoffman and sophomore Kyle Mitchell. Junior Brad Plaziak will be playing as an individual. Hoffman will be the first to tee off for the Marshall at 10:30 a.m. eastern time.
The Herd will be competing against five teams that finished the 2018-19 season ranked in the Golfstat Top 100 in No. 35 Arkansas State, No. 44 Campbell, No. 58 San Jose State, No. 61 Kansas State and No. 72 Illinois State. The remaining teams playing in the tournament are Dayton, Sacramento State, Drexel, Oakland, Ball State, Jacksonville State, Furman and Loyola Marymount.
