Men’s Golf Begins River Run Collegiate on Monday

First round tees off with 9 a.m. shotgun start
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Marshall men's golf team is back in action Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 23-24, at the River Run Collegiate, hosted by Davidson College. The tournament will be played at Rive Run Country Club.
Live scoring for the River Run Collegiate will be provided by GolfStat.com.
"River Run is a wonderful golf course and the guys really like playing there," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "It is a very difficult, demanding golf course and will be a challenge for the guys. We once again are playing in a really strong field and I hope that the competition from last week at Cedar Rapids will help us this week. A lot of the team has been here before and should have some familiarity with the course. I am looking forward to getting out there with the guys and competing on a great course with a great field."
The Thundering Herd is one of 15 team competing at the event. The other teams are Charlotte, Cleveland State, Davidson, Francis Marion, Furman, Gardner-Webb, James Madison, Mercer, Presbyterian, Radford, Richmond, Temple, William & Mary and Wright State. Host school Davidson ended the 2018-19 season ranked No. 80 in the Golfstat top 100 and James Madison was 91st.
The River Run Country Club is a par-72 with 7,317 total yardage.
Playing for Marshall is redshirt senior Ben Roeder, sophomore Kyle Mitchell, freshman Tyler Jones, redshirt juniors Matt Hoffman and Will Straub. Senior Cole Moore will be competing as an individual.
Marshall is coming off a 15th place finish in a very tough field at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Herd has started the season with a tight schedule, but following the River Run Collegiate, Marshall will have a 12-day break before playing at the Mountaineer Intercollegiate.
