Men’s Golf Hosts 50th Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational to Begin 2019-20 Season

Marshall Invite played at Guyan Golf & Country Club
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall men's golf team opens the 2019-20 season at Guyan Golf & Country Club, hosting the 50th Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, Sept. 9-10.

The Marshall Invitational began in 1968, was not played in 1970 and 1971, and has then been in action every year since 1972. It was renamed the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational in 2013 in honor of the Herd's longtime coach who led the program from 1972-2012.
Marshall is one of 16 teams competing in the event. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Monday to begin the first two rounds. The final round is scheduled for Tuesday. The course at Guyan Golf & Country Club is a par-71 with 6,573 total yardage.
Competing for the Herd will be redshirt senior Ben Roeder, redshirt junior Will Straub, junior Brad Plaziak, sophomore Kyle Mitchell and freshman Tyler Jones. Competing as individuals will be redshirt juniors Matt Hoffman and Cameron Root and senior Cole Moore.
The other 15 teams that will be playing at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational are Mount St. Mary's, Eastern Michigan, St. Francis (Pa.), Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Longwood, Ohio, Wright State, Youngstown State, Wichita State, Cleveland State, William & Mary, George Washington, VCU and Dayton.
The Wichita State Shockers won the 2018 Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational. Zac Owens of Wichita State, who is back for his redshirt sophomore season, topped the individual leaderboard with an 8-under 134.
