HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men's basketball looks to continue winning ways as it hosts North Texas on Saturday afternoon to conclude opening weekend of Conference USA play at the Cam Henderson Center. The game will mark the 1,000th football and men's basketball broadcast for Steve Cotton at Marshall.

D'Antoni is now 5-1 in C-USA opening contests after Marshall's 89-69 win over Rice on Thursday (Jan. 2).
 
The 20-point margin is the largest in a C-USA home opener for the program since the Herd defeated East Carolina on Jan. 19, 2013 by 21 points, 77-56.
 
Junior Jarrod West scored a game-high 19 points in the win to go with five rebounds and five assists.
 
Redshirt freshman Andrew Taylor's eight rebounds are a career-high in his young career.
 
Marshall went 35-of-60 from the field for a 58.3 shooting percentage besting its previous season-high of 58.2 percent against Howard. It's the team's third time this season shooting better than 50 percent from the field.
 
MU outrebounded Rice 41-26. The +15 margin is the largest of the season and it's now 7-1 when outrebounding its opponent this season after only outrebounding its opponents six times last season.
 
The Thundering Herd is second in the nation in blocks with 97.
 
Sophomore Taevion Kinsey leads C-USA in assists per game at 4.9.
 
SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS
Guard Umoja Gibson leads the Mean Green in points with 14.1 per contest. Meanwhile, Gibson is second on the team in steals (15) and assists (32).
 
Javion Hamlet is second in scoring at 10.6 points per game, but is the team leader in assists with 60.
 
Forward Deng Geu has a squad-best 6.4 rebounds per game and has 20 blocks this season, second on the team.
 
UNT is outscoring its opponents by an average of 6.2 points and outrebounds its opponents by 4.6 per contest.
