HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall (7-4) women's tennis is set to face Winthrop (1-5) Friday, Feb 28 at 4 p.m. for the first home match of the weekend.

Marshall defeated North Texas 4-3 last weekend in a nail biter. It was Madison Riley who secured the win after going into the third set tiebreaker.

Liz Stefancic and Jutte Van Hansewyck pulled off a doubles win against the No. 3 ranked doubles team in the country last weekend against Yale. Both girls were named Conference USA Co- Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week. Â Â Although Marshall lost in Yale Friday, Madi Ballow and Riley both collected singles wins.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: Â Winthrop
The Eagles collected its first conference and season win last weekend against Hampton University, 7-0.

Senior Alisa Soloveva won her No. 1 singles match up for the fourth time in six matches. Freshmen Samantha Nanere and Angela Georgieva won their first collegiate singles wins with victories at No. 5 and No. 6.
SERIES HISTORY
Winthrop leads the series, 5-4 and the last time the two teams faced off was in 2018 and Winthrop won, 7-0. Â
