CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Marshall women's golf rising senior Kerri Parks dominated the 97th West Virginia Women's Amateur Championship, finishing the three-round event on Tuesday with a 3-under 207. Parks ended the event with a 15-stroke lead. The championship was played at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston, W.Va.

Fellow Marshall teammate, rising junior Torren Kalaskey came in fifth.

"It was awesome being able to compete again since I haven't had a tournament since March and I'm really happy with where my game is at this point," Parks said. "Everyone from the WVGA (West Virginia Golf Association) was so kind and it was great being back out there again."

Parks was on point right from the start with a 1-over 71 in the first round which gave her a 4-stroke lead on Sunday. She further distanced herself from the competition on Monday in the second round with a 3-under 67. Parks dropped four birdies on the front nine and six total for the day. She sank four more birdies on Tuesday, finishing with a 1-under 69 in the third round, and ending the tournament with 14 birdies.

The Flushing, Mich., native won the 2018 Michigan Women's Amateur Championship and was named the 2018 Michigan Golf Association Women's Player of the Year. She has starred in her three seasons at Marshall on and off the course. Parks is a three-time Conference USA Academic Medalist and a two-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athlete. In 2019, she was named to the Conference USA Championships All-Tournament team after coming in second place. Parks scored a 5-under 67 in the second round of the C-USA Championships to help her stay near the top.

Parks has competed in 26 tournaments during her time with the Herd, missing just one event. In the shortened 2019-20 season, she led Marshall with a 74.50 stroke average and was the top finisher for the team four times.
