HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University athletic department will allow spectators during the 2020 football season following consultation with and guidance provided by local, state and school health officials.

Stadium capacity will be reduced and those who purchased season tickets will be relocated throughout Joan C. Edwards Stadium in order to comply with social distancing guidelines. Further details will immediately be communicated.

"We are thrilled to be able to have our loyal and passionate fan base in attendance for our six home football games in 2020," said Mike Hamrick, Marshall's Director of Athletics. "We worked diligently and deliberately to create a plan that will allow us to proceed safely and take care of our season ticket-holders, students, staff and visitors. We will have a minimal amount of additional tickets available, but the best way to guarantee a seat is through the purchase of season tickets.

"Again, we are so grateful we will have fans at The Joan for such a special season. In order to have fans, we must follow the orders and guidelines that will be distributed soon. We will proceed safely, methodically and we look forward to an exciting 2020 season."

The Marshall football team will open the season Saturday, Sept. 5 at home against Eastern Kentucky. Kickoff time and broadcast details will be released soon.
