Kickoff from Hoops Family Field set for Tuesday at 7 p.m.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The 3rd-ranked Marshall men's soccer team is back at Hoops Family Field for a midweek, non-conference contest against the Wright State Raiders. Kickoff is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m.
 
The Thundering Herd comes into the match at 8-1-3 overall while the Raiders enter at 4-7-1.

Marshall is coming off its sixth-straight clean sheet with a 1-0, double overtime victory at home against the UAB Blazers on Saturday. With the win, the Herd defense has set a program record for consecutive clean sheets and extended its record of scoreless game time up to 643 minutes and 58 seconds. Graduate student Pedro Dolabella scored the game-winner with a header off a pass from redshirt junior Milo Yosef in the 106th minute. Dolabella scored his eighth goal of the season and his fifth game-winner, both career-highs. He has scored a goal in four-straight matches. Dolabella is second in the NCAA in game-winners, 15th in total points (21), and 18th in points per game (1.75) and total goals.
 
Senior goalkeeper Oliver Semmle, who has played all 643:58 of the recent scoreless streak in the net, has six clean sheets this season good for eighth in the NCAA. He is second all-time in program history with 17 career shutouts.
 
Marshall has outscored its opponents 27-10 this season. The Herd has outshot the competition 152-102 and 73-46 on goal. Marshall outshot UAB 27-0 and 8-0 on target.
 
The Herd's top three scorers of Dolabella and seniors Vitor Dias (five) and Vinicius Fernandes (five) have combined for 18 of Marshall's 27 goals. The three natives of Brazil have also combined for 17 assists and 52 total points. Fernandes is having a career season with personal-highs of five goals and a team-leading seven assists. He ranks 15th in the NCAA in total assists and 18th in assists per game (0.58).
 
Marshall currently sits at the top of the Conference USA standings with 11 points off of three wins and two draws. No. 18 FIU and Coastal Carolina are next with 10 points. Kentucky and Charlotte are both tied with nine points.
 
The Herd has three league matches remaining against Charlotte (Oct. 23), South Carolina (Oct. 30) and finally at FIU (Nov. 5). The Chanticleers have two more league matches in the regular season against FIU on Oct. 19 and then home versus UAB on Oct. 26. The Panthers have four conference contests left with matches against Old Dominion (Oct. 22) and Florida Atlantic (Oct. 30) along with the Coastal Carolina and Marshall dates.
 
The Opponent
The Raiders come in on a two-match losing streak falling 3-2 to UIC and then 3-2 in overtime versus Oakland on Saturday. Wright State is just two years removed from winning the 2019 Horizon League Title and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Michigan in a penalty-kick shootout.
 
The Raiders lost to the Grizzlies on Saturday on a penalty kick in the 97th minute. Wright State has been outscored 26-18 this season, with the worst loss coming 7-1 at the hands of the Akron Zips back on Aug. 26 in the Raiders' second match of the year. Eight different players have scored at least one goal and six of them have at least two goals. Wright State has outshot its opponents 188-166, however the squad trails by one 76-75 in shots on goal.
 
Reece Allbaugh leads the Raiders in scoring with two goals and five assists for nine total points. Zion Beaton leads in goals scored with four.
 
Three players have been in the net for Wright State. Sebastian Jimenez has been the main keeper with over 946 minutes in 10 matches. He has allowed 16 goals, has a 1.52 goals against average, made 41 saves and has a .719 save percentage. Harry Castella got the start against Bowling Green and played just over 67 minutes allowing three goals and making three saves. Bryson Najarian started against Akron and then finished the match versus Bowling Green. He has allowed seven goals and has made three saves.
 
Following the match in Huntington, Wright State has one more non-conference contest at Duquesne (Oct. 26) before playing two more Horizon League games against Cleveland State (Oct. 30) and then finishing on the road at Detroit Mercy (Nov. 3).
