Second league All-Academic team recognition for Dolabella
DALLAS – Marshall men's soccer graduate student Pedro Dolabella was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league office announced Friday. It is the second time that Dolabella has been honored on the All-Academic team with the other coming in 2019.
Dolabella has already received his undergraduate degree in economics and is working toward his MBA in finance.
"It's an honor to be named for the All-Academic Team," Dolabella said. "Through the past years I have worked really hard to be the best student possible and I am very happy with that."
"Pedro has been a great example of a student-athlete with his work on and off the field," Herd head coach Chris Grassie said. "He conducts himself with class and his impact on our program has been immense and he is a great role model. Pedro has really been a great ambassador for the program and has hopefully set the standard for future Marshall players to follow."
Dolabella adds to his already impressive, and growing, list of accomplishments during his time with the Herd. This season alone the Brasilia, Brazil native is a two-time C-USA Offensive Player of the Week and went from a Senior CLASS Award candidate to a Finalist. Off the pitch in his career, Dolabella is a four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and a four-time recipient of the Academic Medal for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better.
The midfielder garnered national academic recognition this past season as a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region selection. He capped the year being named the 2020-21 Conference USA Men's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year as well.
On the field, Dolabella has helped lead the Herd back to the top of the NCAA standings as the No. 1 team going into Friday night's match at No. 19 FIU, with the C-USA Regular Season Championship on the line.
Dolabella leads the team and the league in scoring with 10 goals and 26 total points, both career-highs. He also has put up a career-best six assists this season. Dolabella has registered a point in 11 of the 14 matches that he has played, and multiple points in eight contests. He went out on Senior Night in a big way with two goals and one assist in the 4-0 win over South Carolina and was named Offensive Player of the Week.
In front of the home crowd this year, Dolabella has put on a show with five goals and four assists. Nicknamed "The Mayor," he is tied for fourth all-time in program history with 16 career assists, sixth in goals with 23 and total points with 62.
