HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday at 3 p.m., to face the Bowling Green Falcons at Hoops Family Field.
The Thundering Herd enters the match 2-0-1 overall. The Falcons come in at 2-0-0.

Marshall outshot the Buccaneers 21-2 for the match, however the Herd struggled to find the back of the net until the 53rd minute. Marshall tallied 13 shots with seven on goal in the first half, to just one shot for ETSU. In the second half, the Herd finally punched a shot in as junior Vitor Dias took a pass from senior Pedro Dolabella with a strike from about 10 yards out. It was the third goal of the season for Dias, who just 90 minutes before kickoff was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for his two goals and two assists in the win over West Virginia Tech.
In the 65th minute, junior Vinicius Fernandes scored his first goal of the season after receiving a pass from sophomore Jacob Adams. For Adams, it was his first career assist.
Junior goalkeeper Oliver Semmle played all 90 minutes and faced just two shots, one on goal, and recorded the save. The other shot sailed over the goal.
Dias leads the Herd in scoring with three goals, two assists and eight points. Junior Jan-Erik Leinhos is next with two goals and two assists. Redshirt sophomore Milo Yosef has two goals and six other players for the Herd have one goal apiece.
In the net, Semmle has played 245 minutes allowing just one goal, two saves, and a goals against average of just 0.37. Semmle is 1-0-1. Redshirt junior Kyle Winquist earned the start and played the first half against WVU Tech and recorded the win.
Through the first three matches, Marshall has outshot the opposition 73-8 and 37-4 in shots on goal.
The Opponent
Bowling Green comes in to the match with a 3-2 win over Dayton to open the year, and then a 2-1 victory over Syracuse on Tuesday. Kyle Cusimano leads the Falcons with two goals. Chris Sullivan has been the helper for the Bowling Green offense as he has assisted on four of the team's five goals, and has scored a goal as well. Sullivan is the top-returning scorer as he recorded seven goals and nine assists in 2019 and has 17 assists in his career.
The Falcons have used two keepers in the net with freshman Brendan Graves and sophomore Logan Kowalcyzk. Graves went the distance against Dayton, recording three saves. Kowalcyzk played versus Syracuse and tallied two saves. Bowling Green is looking to replace Anthony Mwembia who graduated after the 2019 season. Mwembia played over 1,845 minutes last season and earned a 12-7-1 record, helping the Falcons reach the Mid-American Conference Title match, where it fell 1-0 to West Virginia. Kowalcyzk came off the bench for one match in 2019, played over 70 minutes against Canisius and earned the win as he recorded three saves and did not allow a goal.
