Oakville, Ontario native honored

DALLASNathan Dossantos was named Conference USA's Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

Dossantos played all 92 minutes against FIU and made it all count as the Herd dominated possession. He led the defensive effort that held the Panthers to just six total shots and only two on goal. The center back cutoff the FIU attackers, stealing the ball and ultimately getting the ball back to the playmakers downfield. In just the second minute of overtime, the junior from Oakville, Ontario headed in a deflection off a corner kick, past the diving goalkeeper for the golden goal. It was Dossantos' first goal of the season, and it helped keep the Herd undefeated in C-USA play.

"Nate has come into our team, has adapted to us and then excelled," said Marshall head coach Chris Grassie. "I'm happy that he's being recognized this week. The whole team has defended really well, so it's great for one of them to get recognized on behalf of the group.

Marshall (5-1-1, 2-0-0 C-USA) is currently ranked eighth nationally and will travel to 11th-ranked Kentucky (9-2-1, 1-1-0) for a 7 p.m. match on Thursday. That contest will be carried live on ESPN+.
