Marshall Tennis Faces Liberty and West Virginia State in Upcoming Weekend

The Liberty match is on Saturday and the WVSU match is on Sunday.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall tennis team (4-5) is set to host Liberty on Saturday, March 27 and WVSU on Sunday, March 28. Both matches are set to start at 11 a.m.

HAVE YOU HERD?
The Herd's last match up resulted in a 5-2 victory over Presbyterian College. In the match, Marshall swept the doubles round and took for singles wins. Anna Smith, Liz Stefancic, Gabi Clairotte and Jutte Van Hansewyck all walked away with wins.
 
Marshall is currently ranked #8 in the Atlantic Region ITA Weekly Rankings and #62 in ITA's overall rankings.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: LIBERTY
Liberty is 12-3 on the season and currently leads the ASUN North Division.
 
Liberty's Esther Lovato received her first singles national ranking on Wednesday from the ITA. She is currently listed as the No. 123 player in the country in the Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Singles rankings.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: WVSU
WVSU is 1-2 on the season with a victory over Salem University and dropping matches to Davidson and Wingate.
 
WVSU's Abigail Wild was selected as the MEC Player of the Week at the beginning of March.

SERIES HISTORY
Marshall is 5-2 all-time against Liberty, with Liberty taking the two most recent matches. Marshall is 4-0 against WVSU.
 
FAN ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Inside: Due to current COVID-19 guidelines, Marshall's matches at the 7827 Tennis Center (formerly the Huntington Tennis Club) will be closed to the general public.   Live stats will be available, however, and the access link will be included in each match preview.
 
Outside: Marshall Athletics can accommodate a very limited number of fans at the outdoor tennis match. Fan attendance will be on a first come, first serve basis. Fans in attendance are REQUIRED to practice social distancing and wear a mask AT ALL TIMES.
