Women’s Golf Completes River Landing Classic

WALLACE, N.C. – The Marshall women's golf team finished its second tournament of the spring season on Tuesday, at the River Landing Classic. Senior Kerri Parks tallied her second consecutive top 20 finish of the year.
The Thundering Herd finished in 11th place. Marshall brought its team score down by 12 strokes from the second to the third round.
"Kerri (Parks) continues to make such a big difference for us," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "She's grown so much and I'm really proud of her! Time to get to work for a few days before we leave again."
Parks, who came in 15th, ended the first round with a 1-under, 71. The senior then shot a 2-over 74 in the second round and an even par-72 in the third round. Parks totaled eight birdies throughout the event.
Senior Stormy Randazzo kept improving throughout the rounds. Randazzo managed to drop her score by two strokes from the first to the second round and then four more strokes from the second to the third. Sophomore Peyton Schaffer saw a six-stroke improvement in the third round and sophomore Makena Rauch dropped her score by 10. Junior Torren Kalaskey finished with a career-low, 229 at the end of the three rounds. Her previous career-best for a three-round tournament was 233 at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, Sept. 27-29, 2019.
East Carolina took home the team award. The Pirates finished four strokes ahead of Coastal Carolina. Sarah Kahn of High Point used a 7-under, 64, in the third round to win the individual award by two strokes over Nicole Abelar of Coastal Carolina.
