Three-round, two-day event tees off Friday

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The Marshall men's golf team is back in action at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, April 2-3. The three-round, two-day tournament played at The Club at Irish Creek is co-hosted by Charlotte and Davidson.
The teams begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. on Friday and play two rounds. The third and final round is set for Saturday with another shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The course is a par 71 with total yardage of 7,099. Live scoring is provided by GolfStat.com.
Competing for the Thundering Herd are sophomores Tyler Jones and Christian Boyd, redshirt seniors Will Straub, Matt Hoffman and Cameron Root as well as senior Brad Plaziak.
The Herd tied for seventh place in its last competition at the Furman Intercollegiate.
Marshall is one of 15 teams playing at Irish Creek. The other programs are (No. 46 Golfstat top 100) Charlotte, Davidson, Appalachian State, East Carolina, (No. 69) Furman, (No. 77) Jacksonville, James Madison, (No. 93) Middle Tennessee, UNC Greensboro, (No. 65) UNC Wilmington, Ohio, Richmond, (No. 95) Rutgers and VCU.
Marshall last played at Irish Creek April 6-7, 2019. The Herd had a great third round, improving its team score by 22 strokes. Marshall was scheduled to play at Irish Creek in April of 2020, however the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
