Men’s Golf to Host Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall men's golf team prepares to host its annual home tournament the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 13-14. The event takes place at Guyan Golf & Country Club.

This is the 51st Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational. The tournament returns after being canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Marshall Invitational began in 1968, and was not played in 1970 and 1971. It returned in 1972 and was played every year until 2020. The tournament was renamed the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational in 2013 in honor of the Herd's longtime coach who led the program from 1972-2012.
The tournament tees off with a shotgun start on Monday at 8:30 a.m. The teams will play two rounds on Monday. The final round on Tuesday begins with another shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The course is a par-71 with 6,523 total yardage.
Marshall is one of 15 teams competing in the event. The other programs are Belmont, Bowling Green, Cleveland State, Dayton, Longwood, Morehead State, Mount St. Mary's, Northern Kentucky, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, Stetson, Wright State, Xavier and Youngstown State.
Marshall will have 12 players in the field. Competing for the team score will be fifth-year senior Noah Mullens, junior Tyler Jones, and sophomores Brett Montgomery, Andrew Wyss and Joseph Kalaskey. Playing as individuals will be fifth-year senior Brad Plaziak, seniors Kyle Mitchell and Isaac Prine, junior Christian Boyd, sophomores Layne Lambert and Bennett Zeitner and freshman Ryan Bilby.
VCU won the 2019 Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, with Dayton coming in second. Kyle Schmidt of Dayton finished atop the field to take the top prize. Marshall finished tied for sixth at 13-under.
