Tennis Closes Weekend with Win at Bellarmine

The Herd took eight of the nine matches
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Marshall University tennis team (2-2) closed out its trip to Louisville, Kentucky, with a 6-1 win over the Bellarmine Knights on Saturday.

"It was a nice bounce-back win after yesterday's close match," Marshall tennis head coach John Mercer said after the win. "We look forward to playing at home on Friday."

The Thundering Herd swept the doubles competition with Madi Ballow and Sophia Hurrion winning their match 6-0 on court two, and the pairings of Emma Vanderheyden/Liz Stefancic and Gabrielle Clairotte/Aisling McGrane taking courts one and three 6-4, respectively.

The Herd was dominant in singles seeing Stefancic, Ballow, Clairotte, and McGrane each win their respective matches in straight sets. Vanderheyden took her contest on court one over Ekaterina Tikhonko in a three-set battle despite dropping the first set, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
