HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University tennis freshman Emma Vanderheyden was named Conference USA Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the league office.

The native of Lummen, Belgium, had a great weekend going 1-1 in doubles and 2-0 in No. 1 singles as Marshall went 1-1. Against Louisville opponent Andrea Di Palma, the freshman dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0, win against the ACC foe.

As the Herd defeated Bellarmine on Saturday 6-1, Vanderheyden combined with Liz Stefancic in doubles for a 6-4 win on court one and took down Ekaterina Tikhonko in a three-set battle, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, in singles.

The Herd is back in action on Friday when it plays host to Eastern Michigan at 5 p.m.
