Three-day tournament starts Monday in Savannah

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University women's basketball team prepares for the three-day Hostilo Hoops Community Classic in Savannah, Georgia.  Marshall will face the trio of UT Martin, Purdue-Fort Wayne, and Norfolk State from Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia.

BROADCAST NOTE

The duration of the tournament will be broadcast by Event Live+. Upon entering the website's main screen, by clicking on "Buy Now" the website will prompt the viewer to purchase the event for $25. The $25 fee will cover all six games played over the three days.  

PREGAME NOTES

The Marshall Thundering Herd enter the tournament with a 1-1 record. Head coach Tony Kemper's team is coming off a 72-39 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan. 

Through two games, junior guard Roshala Scott (Earle, Ark.) leads the team with 30 points with four three-point field goals.

Scott and junior guard Abby Beeman (Ridgeley, W.Va) each have eight rebounds to lead the Herd. 

ABOUT THE SKYHAWKS (Mon. 11/21)

UT Martin will enter Monday evening's game with a 1-2 record on the season, splitting with a pair of Sun Belt Conference opponents in Troy (L, 89-84) and Arkansas State (W, 73-54) before falling to undefeated Missouri (L, 60-55). 

The Skyhawks are led by freshman Kenley McCarn, who is averaging 21.7 points through the first three games. McCarn has already earned OVC Player of the Week for her efforts in the first week of competition.

Fellow freshman Sharneece Currie-Jelks leads the team with 27 rebounds through three games. 

ABOUT THE MASTODONS (Tue. 11/22)

Purdue Fort-Wayne enters the Hostilo Hoops Community Classic with a 3-1 record with wins over Goshen, Bellarmine, and Chicago State. The Mastodons fell to Michigan State on November 10. 

Amellia Bromenschenkel leads the team in points (80), scoring average (20.0), three-pointers (14), and total rebounds (21). 

Senior Shaya Sellers was named to the Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team. 

ABOUT THE SPARTANS (Wed. 11/23)

Norfolk State enters the tournament with a 3-1 record, with a win over Sun Belt Conference member App State (70-65).

Graduate senior Deja Francis leads the team with 15.8 points per game. 

Sophomore Kierra Wheeler has collected the most rebounds for the Spartans through four games (46). Wheeler is averaging a double-double with 11.5 PPG and 11.5 RPG.
