Kinsey tallies seventh 20-point game of the season

Box Score | D'Antoni Press Conference

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Fifth-year senior Taevion Kinsey tallied 24 points as the Marshall University men's basketball team (9-2) saw its nine-game win streak come to an end in Greensboro, 75-67, to the UNC Greensboro Spartans (5-6) on Tuesday night.

"Tough game," Herd men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said. "Those guys, you have to give them credit. They played their tails off. They hardly missed any free throws."

Kinsey's 24 points led all players in the contest while dishing out a game-high six assists and grabbing four rebounds. The Columbus, Ohio, native made 10 of his 18 shots from the field.

Redshirt senior Andrew Taylor added 17 points as junior Obinna Anochili-Killen registered 10 rebounds.

After missing his first eight shots of the contest and Marshall trailing 53-48 with 11:24 left in the game, junior Kamdyn Curfman rattled off three straight, three-point baskets on three consecutive possessions. This 9-0 run gave the visitors a 57-53 advantage with 9:31 on the clock.

UNCG answered with 15 of the next 17 points to grab back the lead and not look back. Marshall couldn't find the bottom of the basket making two field goals in the final seven minutes.

Notes
The loss marked the first for the Herd since its season opener at Queens on November 7.

Kinsey has scored 10 or more points in 91 of his last 94 contests as he recorded his seventh 20-point game of the season.

Anochili-Killen's 10 boards set a season-high for the forward from Lagos, Nigeria.

MU tallied 23 points off 15 turnovers while giving up just 11 points off 9 turnovers.
