Team hits 810 Billiards, Fans Enjoy Wind Wing Cafe on Day 3
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Saturday's action at the Myrtle Beach Bowl saw the temperatures drop, but the intensity heat up as Marshall's football team moved one day closer to its date with UConn at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
Marshall coach Charles Huff and his assistants set the tone early for a spirited practice that got the team's focus squarely on UConn.
Once practice ended, the team set its sights on 810 Billiards & Bowling in North Myrtle Beach. Following the buffet-style dinner, bowling lanes were paired off with wide receivers and defensive backs beside each other, as well as offensive and defensive linemen joined together, which made for a fun atmosphere of competition on the lanes.
Some players opted to forgo the lanes to play cornhole or billiards in the adjacent player areas set up, too.
The players called it an evening soon after in preparation for Sunday's final practice before Monday's game, but the Big Green kept things going with an afternoon full of events.
The fun started at 3:30 p.m. at the Marriott Grande Dunes lounge area and restaurant where those at the team hotel enjoyed a Watch Party for Marshall men's basketball's 100-85 victory in the first game of the "Brand New Cam."
From there, the group shifted to Wild Wing Café for an evening of food, drinks and music at a well-known Myrtle Beach staple with Marshall ties.
Myrtle Beach featured many more Marshall fans on Saturday as patrons for the Myrtle Beach Bowl started to filter into town on the weekend for Monday's game.
COMING UP
On Sunday, the bowl atmosphere hits full stride with the Conway Medical Center Pep Rally, which brings both Marshall and UConn fans together at The Hangout, located at Broadway at the Beach. Bands and cheerleaders for both teams will be present with plenty of food, drinks and atmosphere to set the mood for Monday's contest. UConn's portion of the pep rally kicks things off at 4 p.m. while Marshall's pep rally is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
