Roberts comes to Huntington after five years at Nebraska-Kearney

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University women's soccer head coach Michael Swan announced the addition of Chloe Roberts as assistant coach to the women's soccer staff on Tuesday.

"We are delighted to be able to add Chloe to our staff," Swan said. "Chloe brings great energy experience and passion to our program. Throughout the process we were looking for an individual who can complement our staff, but also have the above qualities, and without a doubt Chloe is that person. We've been patient in the process and feel extremely confident we've put the final piece in place which will give our student-athletes the support and mentorship that will propel us forward."

Roberts, a native of Plymouth, England, joins the Herd after spending the last five years with the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers. She was a graduate assistant from 2014 to 2015, the assistant coach in 2016 and was the head coach from 2017 to 2021. During Roberts time as the head coach, the Lopers set records in save percentage (.892) and goals against average (0.87) in 2019.

"I want to thank Coach Swan and Marshall University for giving me this amazing opportunity! The high-caliber of university and vision that Coach Swan has for the soccer program are exactly what I was looking for," Roberts said about joining the Herd. "I am excited to get started and work with the student-athletes at Marshall to achieve success both on and off the field."

Prior to her coaching career, Roberts was a four-year letter winner at the University of North Alabama where she left as one of the most decorated student-athletes in the program's history. She set numerous records and won several awards during her time with the Lions, including the 2009 Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year when she scored a program record 32 goals in a season and tallied a single-season program record 79 points.

Roberts also won the 2011 GSC Player of the Year, was first-team all-GSC four times, and was a four-time Division II All-American. Roberts was named the GSC Player of the Decade (2010-19) in 2020 and is the all-time leader in UNA women's soccer history with 236 points and 93 goals while being tied for the program lead in career assists at 51.
