Outside hitter to join Herd for 2022 season
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall volleyball head coach Ari Aganus announced the addition of Regan Tinkle, a transfer from Arizona State, to the Herd for the 2022 season on Wednesday.
Â
"I am so thrilled for Regan to officially be part of our family," coach Aganus said. "From the first conversation I had with her, I knew it would be a great fit. Regan has a heavy arm and will fit right into our offensive system and generate points with her physicality. Having been in some of the best conferences in the country, Regan will be prepared to come into our gym and immediately make an impact.
Â
"I'm so excited for our Marshall family to be a part of Regan's experience here. She has had an unusual journey so far in college that has led her to finish her career and leave her mark here at Marshall."
Â
Tinkle spent the past two seasons out in Tempe, Arizona.
Â
"I chose Marshall because the environment there is something I have been searching for," Tinkle said of her choice to transfer to Huntington. "The coaches are truly amazing and believe in me and my potential. The team is so supportive and welcomed me with open arms. The campus is beautiful, and Marshall just checked all of my boxes!"
Â
During her time with the Sun Devils, Tinkle appeared in 14 matches and 26 sets. The 6'1" outside hitter totaled 31 kills and has experience playing against ranked competition. Tinkle made her collegiate debut in the spring of 2021 on Jan. 28 against No. 8 Washington State where she recorded four kills and two digs.
Â
The Hagerstown, Indiana, native tallied a season and career-high seven kills versus No. 8 Utah in the spring of 2021. Tinkle recorded five kills at Oregon State and had six across two matches versus No. 15 UCLA.
Â
In the fall of 2021, Tinkle appeared in six sets over three matches. She tallied three kills against No. 13 Louisville. Tinkle recorded three kills versus Georgia with a hitting percentage of .400. Tinkle had originally signed with Georgia prior to what should have been the 2020 fall season. She did not play for Georgia as she spent just the fall 2020 semester in Athens, and soon transferred to Arizona State.
Â
Tinkle starred for Hagerstown High School, piling up awards during her prep career. She was a two-time MVP, four-time All-Conference selection, four-time All-Region, two-time All-State, and two-time Indiana All-Star Game participant. She helped lead her club team to the national championship match as well.
