Marshall's offense struggled at the plate with just two hits and drew two walks.

Freshman Bub Feringa entered the game to pitch in the third and tossed the last 3.2 innings. Feringa allowed four hits, one unearned run and a career-best three strikeouts.
Florida Atlantic struck first scoring one run off a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first. Fifth-year senior Katie Adams recorded Marshall's first hit of the contest with a double in the top of the second. Redshirt freshman Amaya Lee came in to run for Adams at second and then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from freshman Lauren Love. Next, fifth-year senior Armani Brown hit a fly ball to center that scored Lee from third for a sacrifice fly. The Herd tied the game at 1-1.
The Owls scored two more runs in the top of the third to take back the lead and were looking to add more with runners in the corners and one out. The next batter lined out to Harrell at first who quickly went over to touch first base doubling up the runner as she had taken off for second. The unassisted double play from Harrell got Marshall out of the inning and was Harrell's 32nd career double play. She is third all-time in team history.
In the bottom of the fourth, Feringa tallied her first two strikeouts of the game including winning a 12-pitch battle against Riley Ennis for the second out. The Herd put two runners on base in the top of the fifth as Adams reached on an error and Love drew a walk, but could find the timely hit to take advantage.
Florida Atlantic added one more run in the bottom of the fifth to push the lead to three. Adams finally ended the inning throwing out a runner attempting to steal second.
Marshall gave it an attempt for a fifth-straight comeback in the top of the seventh. With one out, sophomore Autumn Owen had a base hit to right followed by back-to-back walks to fifth-year senior Madison Whitaker and Adams. The Owls got out of the inning with a 6-4-3 double play to grab the win to split the series.
