Men’s Golf Finishes Day One at River Run Collegiate

Jones tied for 11th after first two rounds
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Marshall University men's golf team closed out the first two rounds of the River Run Collegiate on Monday in Davidson, North Carolina. Senior Tyler Jones sits in a tie for 11th with a score of one-over par through two rounds.
"I was really pleased with the way we bounced back in the afternoon," Herd men's golf coach Matt Grobe said after day one. "We didn't play our best in the morning round, but the guys really battled and played better this afternoon. Tyler's 67 in the afternoon was impressive. Christian (Boyd) and Ryan (Bilby) played really consistent today. I am looking forward to watching the guys compete in the final round tomorrow."
Jones shot a five-under par 67 in the second round, tied for the best round through the opening 36 holes as he birdied five holes during the second round.
Redshirt sophomore Andrew Wyss birdied six of the first 36 holes, including four in the second round. Sophomore Clayton Thomas collected five birdies.
