Marshall placed eighth
MUNCIE, Ind. – Marshall men's golf senior Tyler Jones closed out the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational with a one-under par (69) in his final round to finish plus-one overall for the tournament to place tied for third. The Herd finished in eighth place out of 15 teams.
"It was a good first week for the team," Marshall men's golf head coach Matt Grobe said at the conclusion of the event. "Tyler (Jones) played great this week and it was fun to watch him coming down the stretch with a chance to win. Ryan (Bilby) played really good all week. It was really good to see Christian (Boyd) continue his good play from the summer. Clayton (Thomas) played really well playing in his first collegiate event. Joseph (Kalasky) looked good this week and put some good scores on the board. As a team, I was very happy that we improved each round. This was a difficult course and we were seeing it for the first time. It was good to see the guys learning from round to round and improving. We should be able to get home and work on some things before we host the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational."
Jones birdied four of his final 18 holes in the event, 11 total in the three rounds. Ryan Bilby shot a two-under par on the first nine holes in the final round.
