Herd Tennis Continues Season at ITA Atlantic Regional

Four student-athletes look to qualify for Fall Nationals

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Tennis team is sending Sophia Hurrion, Aisling McGrane, Johanna Strom and Emma Vanderheyden to the ITA Atlantic Regional beginning Thursday. The event is held in Lynchburg, Virginia, as teams look to qualify for Fall Nationals at the event.

Pregame Notes
This will be the first action of the Fall for Johanna Strom. Strom finished last season with a 24-8 singles record and 20-14 doubles record en route to being named to the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, first-team all-conference in singles and doubles in 2022-23.

Sophia Hurrion won all three of her doubles contests at Thunder in the Mountains with three different partners (Emily Schut, Aisling McGrane and Emma Vanderheyden).

Emma Vanderheyden didn't drop a match at the Thunder in the Mountains going a perfect 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles.

Aisling McGrane, like Hurrion, went a perfect 3-0 in doubles at Thunder in the Mountains with three different partners, including Vanderheyden, Andjela Lopicic, and Hurrion.

Doubles- 8 game pro-set through Quarterfinals. 2 out of 3 sets for Semifinals and Finals.

Singles- Qualifying and Consolation, 2 sets with 10-point tiebreak third set. Main, 2 out of 3 full sets.
