Marshall wins eight contests on day two

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Marshall University Tennis team took eight matches on day two of the Gamecock Shootout on Saturday in Columbia, South Carolina.
"Doubles were mostly good, as were singles today," Herd tennis head coach John Mercer said. "It would have been nice to close out a couple more matches, but it's great to see our level really improve. These are top teams nationally and its good to us playing at this level."
Rieke Gillar went a perfect three-for-three on day two taking her singles match over Charlotte's Emma Wilkins to go with a doubles win with Andjela Lopicic to defeat the Virginia Tech pairing of Laima Frosch/Michaela Hegarty. Gillar also teamed with Gabrielle Clairotte to defeat Charlotte's Lucia Aranda and Shona Nakano.
Clairotte also took her singles contest over Hegarty in straight sets.
Johanna Strom and Emily Schut each won singles matches in three sets over SMU's Taylor Johnson and Millie Skelton, respectively.
The pairings of Strom/Emma Vanderheyden and Doroteja Joksovic/Schut took contests over Virginia Tech pairings of Dariya Radulova/Katie Andreini and Charlotte Cartledge/Ozlem Uslu, respectively.
