HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team took its final 'Fans First' game before the 2023-24 season 103-85 on Wednesday night over Lees-McRae College in the Cam Henderson Center.
"Everybody was worried about us being able to score losing our two best scorers," Herd men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said about his team scoring 103 points. "We can move the ball. We have shooters who can play multiple positions. We're gonna get better. This team will grow. This is just starting with this group."
Wyatt Fricks put together quite the stat line registering a double-double with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds. Fricks made eight of his nine attempts in the victory.
Kevon Voyles followed with 21 points while adding six assists in the contest. With 13 points on a 50 percent shooting night (5-for-10), Kamdyn Curfman rounded out a trio of Herd student athletes. Jacob Conner fell a point and a rebound short of a double-double finishing with nine and nine.
The Herd made 41 of its 69 attempts from the field (59.4 percent), making 62.9 percent of its shots (22-of-35) in the second half. Marshall also had 28 assists while committing just 14 turnovers.
