HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The top-ranked and number-one overall seed Marshall University Men's Soccer team (17-2) is set for its first contest in the 2023 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament in the second round on Sunday against California Baptist (10-5-4). First kick is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Hoops Family Field.

PRE-MATCH NOTES
- Marshall captured the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Tournament title with a 3-2 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers on Sunday.
- Alvaro Garcia-Pascual tallied a pair of goals and an assist in the final, while being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
- With 30 points on 12 assists and nine goals, Matthew Bell leads the Herd in all three categories, with the 12 helpers ranking second in the country and the 30 points sitting in 12th.
- Gabriel Perrotta's 10 individual shutouts ranks third in the country, with his 10.5 total clean sheets ranking second in program history.
- Despite missing seven matches, Garcia-Pascual ranks second on the team with 20 points and eight goals this season.
ABOUT THE LANCERS
- California Baptist took its first-round match over WCC Champions San Diego. The match ended in a 1-1 draw with CBU advancing on penalty kicks, 3-2, in San Diego.
- The Lancers automatically qualified for the NCAA Tournament by winning the WAC Tournament crown with a 2-1 win over UNLV on Saturday.
- Luis Mueller leads his side with 28 points and 12 goals during the season with Leo Mendez registering eight assists.
- CBU and MU have one common opponent this season in WVU. The Lancers fell in their season opener to the Mountaineers, 3-0, in Morgantown on August 24.
