WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving team had another big day on Friday during day action at the Purdue Invitational.
"Today was our best day so far," Herd swimming and diving head coach Ian Walsh said. "In the morning session, everyone swam a season best and we got a few people up in the A finals for the evening session."
One of the big performances in the morning session came from Madeline Hart in the 100 Butterfly as she tied her lifetime and sixth all-time program best time of 55.13 in the prelims.
"Tonight, the team had showed a lot of grit when we needed it," Walsh added. "This was our fourth session of the meet and is usually where we see fatigue set in. I thought our attention to detail and the commitment to race adjustments were pretty good. We are set up really well for tomorrow morning and the staff is excited to see what our team is made of."
In the finals session, Federica Savoia swam a lifetime best 1:53.94 in the 200 Freestyle.
With a time of 4:21.33, Eszter Laban finished fifth with Molly Warner's time of 4:24.29 entering the top-10 in program history at seventh in the 400 Individual Medley.
The final event of the evening was the 800 Freestyle Relay. The team of Hart, Warner, Audrey West and Laban finished with a time of 7:27.74, eighth best in program history. Hart led the relay with a time of 1:50.59 in her 200 Freestyle leg of the race.
Klava Katayama's time of 1:52.09 in her 200 Freestyle leg of her team's 800 Free Relay race set a new lifetime best.
