Herd forces Dolphins into program-record 42 turnovers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Marshall women's basketball team (5-4) won its third-straight in a 102-77 victory at Jacksonville (4-6) Friday evening.
Marshall had two players surpass 25 points - Breanna Campbell with 29, and Aislynn Hayes with 25 - as both transfers notched Marshall career-highs. It was the first time for the program with multiple players over 25 points in a game since March 7, 2019 (Taylor Porter-30, Shayna Gore-29). With senior guard Abby Beeman's 21 points, three Herd players surpassed the 20-point threshold.
Defensively, the Herd forced 42 turnovers - a new program-record. The team's previous high of 38 was set against Point Park last month. The 41 turnovers were the most committed in Jacksonville's program history. Coach Kim Caldwell's team scored 51 points off of turnovers.
"It was good to get a win on the road," Caldwell said. "We still did not shoot the ball very well. Got a win, gotta get out of here because we have a short turnaround before our next one."

In what was a game of runs, Marshall wore down the hosts late, outscoring Jacksonville 29-10 in the fourth, forcing 12 of its 41 turnovers in the final period. Marshall did shoot better in the second half, connecting on 62 percent of its shots from the field after halftime. Beeman scored 19 of her 21 after the break.
The Herd trailed by five after a quarter, but took a four-point lead into the break after overcoming the hosts 20-11 in the second. A 7-0 run for JU greeted the Herd to open the third, before Marshall would later respond with a 17-5 run to take command.
