Herd seeking best ten-game start since 2015
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall softball team (7-2) returns to action over the weekend at Liberty University.Â
On Friday, the Herd will face Northern Illinois at 10:00 a.m before facing Morgan State at 2:00 p.m.
There will not be live video at the Liberty Classic. There will be live statistics, which will be updated and can be viewed HERE.

PREGAME NOTES
- Marshall is seeking an 8-2 start, which would be the best 10-game run to begin a season since 2015.Â
- Redshirt-senior pitcher Sydney Nester is 5-1 with a 1.29 ERA two weeks into the season. Newcomers Savannah Rice and Bri Godfrey each earned their first wins of the season in the circle last week.
- Sophomore Bub Feringa has driven in a team-leading 13 runs after two weeks. Feringa drove in the decisive run in a 1-0 win over Indiana State Sunday.
ABOUT THE NIU HUSKIES
- Northern Illinois is 1-4 after five games in San Diego last weekend.Â
- Freshman Ally Rodriguez led the team with five hits in 13 at-bats to start the season. Rodriguez was 5-6 in stolen bases in the opening weekend.
- The Huskies are led by Christina Sutcliffe, who is in her 11th season in DeKalb. NIU is 244-269 under Sutcliffe.
ABOUT THE MORGAN STATE BEARS
- Morgan State is 4-4 after the first two weeks of competition, with a win over Elon, who Marshall plays Sunday.
- Asia Thomas is batting .400 with a home run in 25 at-bats this year.Â
- Larry Hineline is in his ninth season with the Bears. Morgan is 149-169 during his tenure.
After Friday's games, Marshall will face Princeton at 2:00 p.m. Saturday before facing the hosts, Liberty at 6:00 p.m.
