BALTIMORE, Md. – Marshall's Men's Golf team sits alone in sixth place after two rounds at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club in Baltimore, Maryland.

As a team, the Thundering Herd improved its day two score eight strokes from its opening round score while having five guys shoot Even par or better during Monday's action.

Tyler Jones saw success on the par-5s on Monday, grabbing a pair of birdies on those opportunities to finish the day at 2-under, which is also where he stands for the tournament.

After leading the Herd at 1-under in the opening round, Ryan Bilby also stayed under par for the tournament, shooting Even par on Monday to maintain the red. Both players are in the top-20 as competition heads to the final day.

"It was another really good day for us," Marshall men's golf coach Matt Grobe said. "Tyler continued his impressive play with a 2-under 70 and Ryan had a nice round of Even par to follow up a nice first round."

Several players showed vast improvement across the board for Grobe and the Thundering Herd, led by Andrew Wyss, who found a groove with four birdies in an eight-hole stretch before finishing with a 1-under 71. Currently, Wyss is at 1-over for the tournament.

Christian Boyd also displayed some solid work on Monday with 15 pars for a 1-under 71. Boyd and Wyss each improved their scores by four strokes from Monday's round, along with Joseph Kalaskey.

The biggest improvement came from Kyle Mitchell, who improved eight strokes with his Even par 72 on Monday.

"All of our guys showed good improvement," Grobe said. "Kyle improved eight strokes and Christian and Andrew and Joseph (Kalaskey) improved four strokes. I really liked what I saw and we are looking forward to the final round tomorrow morning."

Tuesday's final round of the Loyola Intercollegiate starts at 7:45 a.m.
