Marshall women's golf team ends event in 13th place
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Marshall sophomore Emily McLatchey capped a strong showing at the GCU Invitational with a low round that led to a top-15 finish at GCU Championship Course in Phoenix, Arizona.
McLatchey shot a 1-under 71 during Tuesday's final round which propelled her to a T-13 finish at Even par for the tournament.
McLatchey's consistency highlighted a week in which the Thundering Herd saw several highlights, including Olivia Kochan's 2-under 70 in the second round of the tournament.
"First tournament of the spring and I saw many great things from our team," Marshall women's golf coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "Emily had a solid week and I'm really proud of her. We can't forget about Olivia shooting her personal collegiate best 70 as well."
As a team, Marshall finished 13th in the GCU Invitational, which was won by ULM, a fellow Sun Belt Conference member.
Marshall's women's golf team heads back to Huntington for a couple weeks before hitting the road again for the River Landing Classic, which takes place in Wilmington, North Carolina on March 13-14.
