Marshall's Tyler Jones wins SBC Men's Golfer of the Week

Senior's 5-under 67 led to T-6 finish at Loyola Intercollegiate
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall's Tyler Jones was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week, the league announced on Friday afternoon.
Jones, a senior for the Thundering Herd, finished the Loyola Intercollegiate at 7-under this weekend, which placed him in a tie for sixth and led Marshall to a fourth-place finish at event's end.
"Tyler has played great golf all year and winning the Sun Belt Men's Golfer of the Week award is very well deserved," Marshall men's golf coach Matt Grobe said. "Tyler is the first Marshall Men's Golfer to win the Golfer of the Week in the Sun Belt Conference."
The highlight of Jones' weekend was a final round 67 where he carded six birdies and just one bogey en route to a 5-under round that led a day in which Marshall tied for the top team round of the tournament.
The Westerville, Ohio native finished at Even par or better in all three rounds with a 72-70-67 weekend.
"Tyler played so well in the Loyola Intercollegiate to lead our team," Grobe said. "Tyler improved every round and his final round 67 was impressive. We are so happy for Tyler!"
For the week, Jones carded 14 birdies while only having a pair of bogeys over his last 36 holes.
Jones and Marshall next return to action Marck 9-11 at the Sea Palms Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina University in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
