Herd Men's Golf Wraps Up ECU Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Marshall's Tyler Jones shot a final round 73 to earn another top-10 finish at the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, North Carolina on Tuesday.

As has been the case of late, Jones surged in his final holes to earn a seventh-place finish in the tournament.

"Once again, Tyler played great golf," Marshall men's golf coach Matt Grobe said. "He has followed up a great fall with a wonderful start to the spring."

Jones was hovering around the top-10 threshold for much of the day, but birdied two of his final three holes to secure the No. 7 spot out of 96 players in the tournament.

For the second time in three rounds, Jones birdied the 350-yard par-4 7^th hole to solidify his standing. He then closed out his tournament with a birdie at the 386-yard par-4 on No. 9 to end the event on a positive note.

"He didn't have his best stuff this week, but he grinded it out and got a well-deserved top-10 finish," Grobe said.

Marshall finished tied for 14^th in the team event. East Carolina won the event as hosts by two strokes over Francis Marion.

The Thundering Herd now sets its sights on the Golfweek Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate, which starts on Monday in Pawley's Island, South Carolina.
