Marshall Softball Hosts NKU Tuesday With Program History In Reach

Herd seeking team-record 18th consecutive victory

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Head Coach Megan Smith Lyon's Thundering Herd (27-3, 4-0 SBC) have had several program bests during the first month of the 2023 season, but the team's midweek game against Northern Kentucky Tuesday provides an opportunity to make more history.

In the 30-year history of the program, never before has the Marshall softball team won 18 games in a row.

While a historic achievement is within reach, the Herd's manager is approaching Tuesday's game business as usual.

"Every game we play is important, and coming off of a really strong weekend, we've got to come out and take this game extremely seriously to continue our progression," Smith Lyon said. "We're all about process and building and I think we have done a good job of that, and we want to do the same tomorrow. We're going to approach it like any other game where we focus on ourselves, on our process, and on being better tomorrow than we were this past weekend."
