Herd Tennis Drops Tight Contest at App State

BOONE, N.C. – In a match that was delayed twice by rain, the Marshall University tennis team (13-7, 7-3 Sun Belt) fell 4-3 in Boone, North Carolina, to the App State Mountaineers (11-6, 8-2 Sun Belt) on Friday.

"It was a tough battle and we battled hard," Herd tennis head coach John Mercer said. "We'll learn and get better."

Johanna Strom and Sophia Hurrion took their matches in straight sets at number one and six singles, respectively. Strom moved her singles record this spring to 18-1 with the victory.

Doroteja Joksovic battled back after dropping the first set at number three singles to take her matchup in three sets.
