Softball Preps For Final Regular Season Home Series Against Texas State

Graduates and three Marshall softball seniors to be honored throughout the weekend.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Fresh off its historic win Tuesday, the Marshall Thundering Herd softball team (39-7, 13-3 SBC) meets the Texas State Bobcats (29-20-1, 9-7-1 SBC). The three-game series begins on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from Dot Hicks Field.

PROMOTIONSÂ
- For the entire series, we will be celebrating the graduating members of the Marshall softball program! Before Saturday's game will be the official Senior Day ceremony with Grace Chelemen, Cailey Joyce, and Sydney Nester all being honored.
- Friday will be a special Marshall Water Bottle Giveaway. The first 50 fans in attendance will get to cool down with a Marshall water bottle!
- Sunday is "Fun Run Sunday!" Fans 12 and under will have the opportunity to run the bases after the game!
PREGAME NOTES
- Marshall softball made history Tuesday with the program's first top 25 win since 2008. The Herd defeated the #24 Virginia Tech Hokies, 2-1.
- Chelemen stole the Herd's 100th base of the season in Tuesday's win. MU had 37 total stolen bases in 2022. Â
- Nester earned her 23rd win of the year on Tuesday. She is one of five pitchers in program history to have multiple 20+ win seasons.Â

ABOUT THE BOBCATS
- The Herd and Texas State have never met in softball. TXST is 29-19-1 in 2023, with a 9-7-1 conference record this season.
- The left side of the Bobcat infield leads the charge offensively, with SS Hannah Earls and 3B Sara Vanderford both hitting over .300.
- The pitching staff for Coach Ricci Woodard's team is led by a trio of players with a sub-three ERA. Jessica Mullins leads the staff with 16 wins and a 2.13 ERA.
