Bilby Leads Herd Contingent at 104th West Virginia Amateur

Second consecutive 69 has junior in 6th place heading to final round
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall junior golfer Ryan Bilby continued his strong play at the 104th West Virginia Amateur, carding his second consecutive 1-under 69 at The Meadows course to move into sixth place through three rounds of play at The Greenbrier Resort.
Bilby carried the momentum of a strong Monday finish into Tuesday's action, notching three birdies on the front to move into the top-3 at one point.
The impressive stretch saw Bilby have six birdies and no bogeys over a 23-hole stretch before a double-bogey at No. 14 on Tuesday dropped him back a pair of shots.
Still, Bilby is one of only two players in the 120-person field this week to have multiple rounds under par, joining former Marshall golfer Davey Jude, who sits in second place, in that category.
Christian Boyd continued his steady ascent up the leaderboard on Wednesday as well, going 1-under over his final nine holes to shoot 1-over par for the day, which vaults him into 13th place.
Joseph Kalaskey also saw success on Wednesday, notching five birdies in a seven-hole stretch in the middle of his round to finish with a 1-under 69 – one of only nine rounds under par on the day. Kalaskey is current tied for 22nd.
One of the day's top highlights among the Marshall contingent belonged to Clayton Thomas, who notched an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole. Thomas is tied for 33rd heading into the final round.
Wednesday's final round takes place at Old White – site of the former PGA event, The Greenbrier Classic.
