Marshall Volleyball Announces 2023 Slate

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University volleyball head coach Ari Aganus unveiled the team's 2023 schedule on Friday. The 2023 season will be the team's first on its brand new Taraflex court.

"I am thrilled to announce our schedule for the upcoming season," Aganus said. "We have meticulously crafted a challenging lineup of games that will push our athletes to their limits and showcase their skills. Our team is ready to embrace every opportunity, and we look forward to competing against some of the best collegiate programs in the country. With the support of our dedicated fans, we will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of success this season."

The Herd will host Ohio for an exhibition game at the Cam Henderson Center on August 18 before starting the regular season at the Bethune-Cookman Invitational (Aug. 25-26) with a match against The Citadel and a pair of contests against Bethune-Cookman.

MU will then host the Marshall Invitational where it will take on Morehead State (Aug. 31), UNCG (Sept. 1), Akron (Sept. 2) and Coppin State (Sept. 2).

Marshall then heads to Eastern Kentucky for a midweek match on September 5 and to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Queens Fall Classic on September 8 and 9. In Charlotte, the Green and White will face Furman (Sept. 8), Queens (Sept. 8) and UNC Asheville (Sept. 9).

MU closes out non-conference play in St. George, Utah at the Southern Utah/Utah Tech Invitational on September 15 and 16 where it has matchups with Idaho (Sept. 15), Southern Utah (Sept. 15) and Utah Tech (Sept. 16).

Sun Belt Conference play follows the same format as 2022 where teams will play eight opponents featuring back-to-back matches against the same squad at the same location.

This year sees The Herd travel to Georgia State (Sept. 28-29), Georgia Southern (Oct. 13-14), James Madison (Nov. 3-4) and Arkansas State (Nov. 10-11).

Marshall will play host to Old Dominion (Sept. 21-22), Troy (Oct. 6-7), App State (Oct. 20-21) and Coastal Carolina (Oct. 27-28).
