HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall sophomore quarterback Cam Fancher and senior defensive end Owen Porter will join head coach Charles Huff as the Thundering Herd's contingent for the 2023 Sun Belt Football Media Days, which are scheduled for July 25-26 at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The two-day event will be broadcast nationwide on ESPN+ with the West Division participants taking part on July 25 and East Division representatives going on July 26.
"We have a ton of great representatives in our program, and Cam and Owen are just two of the phenomenal leaders we have on our team," Huff said. "Both of them have represented Marshall the right way, and I'm excited to get them down to SBC Media Days so the entire world can see what we see from them on a daily basis."
Fancher, who led Marshall to a 6-1 record as a starter once taking over midway through the 2022 season, will serve as the lone sophomore to be attending the Sun Belt Media Days. The Huber Heights, Ohio, native ended the year with 1,558 yards passing and 10 touchdowns while also being Marshall's second-leading rusher at 466 yards.
Porter was a leader for Marshall's 2022 defense while becoming a force off the edge. The Huntington, W.Va., native finished with 60 tackles and team-highs in tackles for loss (15), sacks (9.5), quarterback hurries (9) and forced fumbles (2).
Marshall comes into 2023 after a successful 2022 season that saw the Thundering Herd finish at 9-4 overall while winning their final five games of the year.

That win total included a 26-21 win over No. 8 Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, after the Herd drove 94 yards for a touchdown to take the lead before getting a game-clinching interception return for a touchdown by Steven Gilmore to seal the program's first top-10 win since 2003 (No. 6 Kansas State).
That victory was one of four wins over autonomy five programs – three of which came on the same day (Sept. 10, 2022), including Marshall's win at Notre Dame.
On the heels of these victories, the conference launched its Sun Belt Rising campaign, which featured in Times Square leading into College GameDay, Los Angeles during CFP week, each of the conference's seven bowl markets during Bowl Season and each of the conference's 14 institutional markets during the 2022 campaign.
The Sun Belt's success resulted in the league serving as host of ESPN's College GameDay for the second time in league history while also producing a league-record seven Bowl Season participants.
The Hercules Tires Sun Belt Football Championship Game—which Troy won 45-26 over Coastal Carolina —was the lone conference championship game to feature a pair of teams with two-or-fewer losses in 2022.
Heading into the 2023 season, the Sun Belt continues to lead the FBS with a .614 bowl winning percentage since the dawn of the College Football Playoff era in 2014.
