Marshall Volleyball Opens 2023 Regular Season at Bash at the Beach

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University volleyball team begins its 2023 season at the Bash at the Beach Friday and Saturday in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The event is hosted by Bethune-Cookman. The Herd will open the tournament against The Citadel on Friday at 10 a.m. before taking on the Wildcats in a pair of matches scheduled for Friday at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday at Noon.

PRE-MATCH NOTES

Head coach Ari Aganus returns for her fifth season in Huntington to lead Herd volleyball.
Marshall returns 12 players from the 2022 roster, including Lydia Montague and Essence Clerkley. Montague was named second-team all-conference last season as she accumulated 366.0 points and a team-best 119.0 blocks.
Clerkley had 183.5 points with 123 kills to go with a team-high 30 solo blocks.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS

Bethune-Cookman is led by eighth-year head coach Brittany Williams as it enters the 2023 season
The Wildcats finished last season with a 9-21 record, 8-8 in SWAC play, and were picked to finish fourth in the SWAC pre-season poll.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS

Dave Zelenock enters his sixth year as the head coach at The Citadel, which was picked sixth in the Southern Conference Volleyball Pre-Season Coaches' Poll.
The Bulldogs finished 2022 with an 11-19 record.
