HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall junior center Logan Osburn was named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, as released by The Wuerffel Foundation on Thursday.

Osburn is one of 110 players in college football up for the award, which is presented annually to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field.

Established in 2005, it is the first major award honoring the character of service to others and is college football's premier award for community service.

"The life-changing impact of thinking of others before ourselves is so rewarding, and it's truly inspiring to see so many student-athletes recognize this and use their platform for good," said Danny Wuerffel, the Trophy's namesakes and a former standout quarterback and Florida. "College Football players across the country are making a difference in their communities, and I'm excited to see so many incredible stories associated with the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy candidates."

It continues a string of honors in the 2023 preseason for Osburn, who was named as a Preseason All-SBC First Team selection by the league's coaches and also named Preseason All-SBC by Athlon and Phil Steele Publications.

In 2022, Osburn started all 13 games after making the transition from guard to center, directing an offensive line that produced 205.9 rushing yards per game. That figure ranked in the Top-20 in FBS.

The Ona, W.Va., native and product of Cabell Midland High School has gone from a walk-on when he joined the program to one of the team's leaders during his time at Marshall.

In his career, Osburn has played in 24 games, starting 19 of them at either the guard or center positions.

Semifinalists for the Wuerffel Trophy will be announced on Nov. 2, and finalists will be announced on Nov. 28. The formal announcement of the 2023 recipient will be made on Dec. 7 or 8 during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN. The presentation of the award will take place on Feb. 17, 2024 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
